Life in Kent.

Successfully providing bespoke rural property solutions in Kent since 1985.

With over 35 years of unrivalled experience comes vast knowledge of the local and surrounding area. We are proud supporters of the wonderful artisan producers, establishments, schools and Estates that make this area so special. This guide offers the inside track on incredible local resources and amenities that have put the Kent on the map, making this beautiful part of Kent and East Sussex one of the most popular places to live in the UK.

Cranbrook school is arguably the most sought-after state funded grammar school in England.

Cranbrook School has a rich history dating back to 1518.

Offering both day and boarding, the school is known for its exceptional pastoral care, superb academic resources and excellent overall facilities, often making it a decisive factor for families planning a move to this pretty part of Kent.

In light of this and given the proximity to London by train (55 minutes from Staplehurst), properties in the Cranbrook school catchment area are understandably very much in demand, often commanding a premium.

There are further Private and State schools in the area such as; Saint Ronans, Marlborough House, Dulwich prep schools and Benenden Primary School; whilst Tunbridge Wells offers further excellent Grammar schools.

Weald Food

‘farm to table’ restaurants focus on sustainably sourced local ingredients.  Integrity of provenance is paramount, justifiably making tables at these Wealden eateries hard to come by.

Most notable is the West House in Biddenden where Chef Gary Clark has held Michelin star status for some time.  His menus are thoughtfully crafted with the focus on sustainably sourced local produce. The hand picked wine list is second to none including many fantastic English wines produced in Kent and East Sussex.

Other restaurants to note are; The Small Holding in Kildown and The Milk House in Biddenden, both offering wonderful vibrant plates reflecting the seasonal Wealden larder.

Weald of Kent is not short of choice when it comes to artisan Café’s, perfect post school drop off havens or mid cycle pitstops that do not disappoint.

A notable find is the Bakehouse in Biddenden, with its outrageous selection of delicious homemade cakes, superb coffee and exceptional breakfasts all served in a charming mediaeval building in the heart of this quaint village.

Another establishment to note is the hugely popular Lime Wharf Café. The sensational tapas menu and comprehensive bar makes it a must for curious gourmands. It forms a key part of the Bodiam Boating Station, with its super cool campsite, water sports centre and stylish outdoor BBQ and ‘surfers’ bar area, ideal for summer events.

For superior coffee, look no further than the Nutmeg Deli in the market town of Tenterden, offering an extensive luxury cheese selection.

In our humble opinion, their own brand of roasted beans – Coldblow Coffee, makes the best, fresh coffee served in the Weald.

For outstanding hot chocolate, there is only one place to go!  Knoops in Rye is an award winning, ground-breaking hot chocolate café, serving only the finest hot chocolate and cakes. It has been so successful; it has recently been franchised popping up in cool London and Brighton locations.
